Poodle, 13 years with neurological and vestibular syndrome; increased alkaline phosphatase enzymes and kidney. Was seen in the topography of the right kidney, a structure measuring 6.0 cm (increased volume) showed dilated pelvis by anechoic content with hyperechoic structures in suspension (cellularity / crystals) and peripheral hyperechoic bands compatible with interventricular septum, suggesting severe hydronephrosis. Ureter dilated right to the distal region, measuring up to 1.2 cm in diameter (hydroureter).

Geringgradige Hydronephrose bei einem Hund im Sagittalschnitt. Das Nierenbecken, das physiologisch als ein echogener Streifen im Zentrum der Niere zu erkennen ist, ist deutlich erweitert und zeigt sich als anecho- genes Gebilde. Die Ursache war ein ektopischer Ureter.

Hochgradigen Hydronephrose im Transversalschnitt. Aufgrund der starken Verdrängung des Nierenparenchyms können bei hochgradigen Hydronephrosen des Hundes die Recessus pelvis nicht mehr
vollständig dargestellt werden. Ursache: Tumorerkrankung des Ureters .

Calculation of renal volume in pregnant bitches: a) calculation by two-dimensional method (ellipsoid): in plane A is measured length and in plan B the width and depth, which is automatically calculated the volume by the software, b) calculation by three-dimensional method (VOCAL): in plane A the kidney was rotated in “z” axis, and its external surface defined in manual mode, with rotation by 30° (6 plans) or 12 (15 plans). (A) 6 sec after the injection; base line; (B) 9 sec: the contrast agent is diffusely spread in the cortex; (C) 11 sec: the cortical enhancement has reached its peak; the medulla is not enhanced; (D) 15 sec: the contrast agent in the cortex is starting to fade; (E) 22 sec: the medullary perfusion is at its peak; (F) 70 sec: the contrast agent is fully washed out of the cortex and medulla.
